A Castellano Sinclair Collaborative
About Us
Jonathan Norman Sinclair
Originally from Misipawistik Cree Nation, Grand Rapids, Manitoba, Jonathan has dedicated much of his life to honouring the stories, history, and resilience of his ancestors. His long standing efforts have focused on researching and documenting his family’s origins, connection to the land, and treaty rights. As someone whose life has been impacted by the intergenerational legacy of residential schools, Jonathan recently reclaimed his Treaty Status. This labour has been deeply meaningful in respecting the wisdom of those relations who preceded him while also strengthening the path he continues to walk; carrying them forward for future generations.
In more recent years, Jonathan has become deeply committed to participating in circles of reconciliation as well as walking alongside the most vulnerable of our relatives in the community. With an open heart, he welcomes both urban Indigenous and non-Indigenous families into spaces of connection and shared pathways. It brings him great joy to do this alongside his wife and children while extending that welcome to others.
Carmela Castellano Sinclair
As a first generation Canadian, Carmela has spent the past 30 years of her personal and professional life accompanying individuals, families, and community groups through seasons of growth, healing, and connection. Her work has taken many forms, including mediation, spiritual direction, interpretation, and walking alongside marginalized and vulnerable community members with compassion and care. She had a heart for inclusivity of all.
Her post secondary education, specialty training, and personal interests have centered on creating spaces where people and communities feel heard, valued, and supported. She is especially passionate about bridging communication gaps that can arise through conflict, cultural and language differences, or the absence of meaningful community and spiritual connection.
This collaboration with Jonathan is not their first, as they have already shared the meaningful experience of raising their two children together in a loving family.
Together, Carmela and Jonathan are grateful for the opportunity to offer different ways to engage with Circle & Bridge Collective, while honouring the many shared pathways that lead toward connection belonging, and spiritual wholeness.
